TRURO: THE FDF ZONE

As the metaphysical poet John Donne wrote in 1624:

No man is an island, entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.

...and so with Chinese Takeaways (except the poem wouldn't scan as well..!)

Although we hope you like our food and hope that you will make us your first choice when visiting Truro, we know that there will be times where you want to sit down an eat with friends, rather than taking food home. Or you may want to have a few drinks after work before taking food home. Or someone in the family may want a tandoori or fish and chips, while the rest want our Chinese food. Or you may just want to burn off some of the calories from last night's fritter at the gym(!) or retire from physical things and focus on the spiritual.

Fortunately, whichever of these you want to do, you can do it within 2-3 blocks of the Old Bridge Street Car Park!

We call this area the FDF Zone - the "Food, Drink and Fun" Zone (although, yes, properly it should be called the "Food, Drink, Fun, Fitness and Worship" Zone - "FDFFW Zone" - doesn't exactly run off the tongue, does it? So we'll stick to FDF for now!)

The map below shows the location of what's available. The numbers refer to the list at the bottom of this page, which show you what's what and which contain links to more information to help you plan your leisure time.

Map of the FDF (Food-Drink-Fun) Zone within two blocks of the Old Bridge Street Shopper's Car Park.

The FDF Zone of which the Golden Dragon is a part, is a community of almost 50 venues that provide Truro's best Asian and European food outlets, tea and coffee shops, bars and nightclubs, culture and entertainment - all within a few streets, with convenient parking, public transport and taxi ranks. There are 4 places of worship too!

When we starting researching this page we were amazed at how many things you could find to do in such a small area. We've learned a lot about our community and gained a lot of respect for local businesses in the process!

So if you want a drink and then some food, or a show and then some food, or Evensong and then some food or to take a "Singapore Food Centre" approach where you take home different types of food from different places, then the FDF Zone is the place to be! Make the FDF Zone your one-stop shop in Truro!
