Yes, we're "the Dragon that Walker's Fish 'n' Chips is next to" - and - "the Dragon opposite the Shopper's car park!" No need to ask folks! We're the only Truro Dragon that really matters: the only Chinese food with the golden touch!
No, sorry, Vanessa and our other friendly counter staff are not found on our extensive new Printed Menu or even on our yet more extensive Internet Menu so, we're sorry, you can’t take ‘em away!
But there is a huge and diverse selection of mouth-watering Chinese dishes, and a choice selection of local English dishes, that you can find on our menus, which can go out with you and which you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home, so we're sure you'll find something to suit!
Whether you phone us with your order to save you time or drop straight in and watch our experienced chefs cook your food in front of you in the Golden Dragon’s healthy an’ hygienic “nothing-to-hide” open kitchen, you’ll find a wider selection of top-quality Chinese food than you can poke a (chop) stick at!
We’re opposite the shopper’s car park, 100 meters down from the altar end of Truro Cathedral, so we are easy to find, and parking is easy too!
We’re also open more days and hours than any other Chinese food outlet in the region, so if you're feeling like a Foo Yung or hungry for a House Special, there's a good chance we'll be open to serve it to you!
We're open every day (except Christmas) for evening meals, every day of the week except Sundays for lunches and we run an informal afternoon opening, so if the door's open between those times we're also open for service!
Try our superlative Oriental cuisine, our recession-friendly pricing and our cheerful service. Once you do, we know you’ll come again!
Our Home Delivery service is now fully operational, so we now deliver from 5pm every day of the week!
(Please note, however, that our 7-day-per-week service is restricted to Zones 1 - 4. We do not deliver to outlying destinations in Zones 5 and 6 during peak hours on Fridays and Saturdays.)
We've also redesigned our handy Find Your Zone widget (on the Step-By-Step Guide page) so that it now gives you all the information about delivery charges, minumum order requirements and service hours for your zone - without the need to take your zone number and look it up in a separate table.
Easy-peasy! But if you want to see the scale of charges and conditions across all our Zones, the main Delivery Service page that has all that information laid out in tabular format (in the Delivery Table sub-section) for your inspection.
We are normally able to deliver within 20 - 35 minutes, but at busy times (like Friday evenings) this can go up to 40 and 60 minutes, so please place your order early. That way you'll get your favourite Golden Dragon dishes delivered hot to your door, at the time you want!
Ask one of our many regular customers and they’ll soon tell you. One difference is the warmth and genuineness of our welcome. But the key difference is the taste and quality of our food!
Unlike many Chinese takeaways, our chefs do not compromise on quality and freshness in a misguided attempt to make a quick profit. We respect our customers and want to see them happy - because we know that's what will keep them coming back. We aim to establish long-term relationships - friendships - based on trust: knowing that our customers can tell the difference between exceptional and indifferent food, and giving them the very best we can.
Starting with plump, lean poultry and seafood, prime pork, topside beef and Cornish lamb, our dishes are prepared entirely by us: no tinned sauces or frozen spring rolls here! Our Aromatic Ducks aren't bought pre-marinated in vacuum packs. We buy them raw and prepare them ourselves - as we do with our much-praised Chinese-style "barbecued" pork spare ribs. Even our little veggie spring rolls are made in-house from finely sliced local and Chinese vegetables and crunchy fungi, individually wrapped.
Then there are our sauces: GD’s Sweet and Sour, for example. It’s made from fresh citrus and other culinary fruits, flavour-enhancing vegetables, pure cane sugar, best grade malt vinegar and piquant spices. So of course it tastes better than elsewhere! You really can't beat the skill and talent of cooks dedicated to their art!
